Bill Beason was proudly born on a farm in the small textile town of Cliffside, North Carolina. The first in his family to attend a university, he entered the textile industry immediately upon graduation from Clemson University. In the late 1960’s he made a life altering career change from Burlington Industries to the newly constructed fiberglass operations of PPG Industries. Over the next three decades he would take his talents to other industry leaders Owens Corning and Johns Manville, developing a deep knowledge of the technologies behind glass fiber.
What we know today as B&W Fiberglass was officially founded by Bill Beason in 1991 as B&W Consultants; in its first iteration it was little more than a one-man consulting operation. Over time the demand for his technical and manufacturing expertise sent him and his team to the corners of the globe; consulting for foreign governments, ultra-high net worth individuals as well as large multi-national corporations. In the late 1990’s out of rabid curiosity and on the cusp of retirement he found an initial niche for an experimental textured glass fiber within the pultrusion industry.
By 2000, BWF had expanded to four employees and began focusing on distribution and strategic manufacturing partnerships. Over the next decade, Bill Beason’s son, Brent, took over as President and the company grew exponentially through successful acquisitions.
The business now employs over 200 team members and with a 165,000 square foot headquarters in Shelby, NC, is able to service the largest of global clientele. BWF’s success can be largely attributed to a dedication to product innovation and a commitment to viable, long-term partnerships. President Brent Beason today serves as a member of the Young Presidents Organization, and BWF has been recognized locally as one of the fastest-growing companies in the greater Charlotte, NC area.
